Sofie Lachaert has invited me to take part in a double anniversary exhibition celebrating twenty years of Galerie Sofie Lachaert in Ghent and ten years of Galerie Sofie Lachaert in Tielrode. The exhibition runs from 5th - 26th December in Tielrode, Belgium.
I will be having an Open Studio with Siu Kwan Wong at Julian Stair's studio in London during the first weekend of December. This is an opportunity to meet us and buy new unseen work in a unique studio environment designed by Niki Borowiecki of se5 Architects.
I am taking part in North House Gallery's Christmas show: Artists' Books and Other Objects. This exhibition celebrates the notion of the artists book and the depth and variety in approach achieved by a selection of painters, printmakers, etchers and bookbinders. Acclaimed artists Piers Browne, Stephen Chambers RA, David Esslemont, Jane Grisewood, Jason Hicklin RE and Andrew Vass have produced a diverse range of books in response to British landscapes, Jacques Jouet's poetry, Barack Obama, and carved Gothic finials. Complementing these books are handmade domestic and decorative objects by woodturner Sam Cook, ceramicists Claire Crouchman and Paul McAllister, paper artists Sue Skeen and Jo Hincks, and jeweller Susi Hines. I will be exhibiting a selection of thrown porcelain tableware including a Trail of Jugs, Stacking Mugs, and new Lidded Jars. 22nd November to 22nd January, The Walls, Manningtree, Essex, CO11 1AS.
I have been invited by Robert Teed and Paula Jackson to take part in One! - a group selling exhibition featuring highlights from the gallery's first year. "Introducing exciting young potter Billy Lloyd with his Stacking Mugs, the gallery will also feature painting, printmaking, ceramics and jewellery from Stuart Dawson, Catherine Sutcliffe-Fuller, Sun Kim, Anke Hennig and Moon Young Shin". The New School House Gallery is a contemporary object and art gallery in York showing the best in studio ceramics and the decorative arts through innovative exhibitions and a regular stock of celebrated makers. 9th November to 29th December, Peasholme Green, York, Y01 7PW.
Priscilla Carluccio has included me in Few and Far's online collection. My Stacking Mugs and Lidded Jars can be bought directly from their new website and will be generously gift wrapped in handmade paper.
I am taking part in Few and Far's Christmas customer day. Throughout the event I will be demonstrating and talking about how and why I make porcelain tableware in Priscilla Carluccio's 'studio' workshop. It is free, no booking is required and a great opportunity to meet artists and designers from a variety of disciplines. November 17th, 10am - 7pm. 242 Brompton Road, London, SW3 2BB.
My Jugs have been selected by leading design and architecture magazine Icon to feature as part of their London Design Festival’s product pages highlights. They can also be seen online at Iconeye.
I have made a new selection of tableware for The Cold Store. Located on Upper St Giles Street in Norwich, The Cold Store exhibits recent publications made in their intaglio printmaking studio The Cold Press. Alongside these prints, modern and vintage furniture and the applied arts are shown.
I am pleased to announce that I have been selected by the Crafts Council to exhibit at Origin, "an annual showcase of original contemporary craft, bringing together the most innovative UK and international makers." For the first time Origin will take place at the Old Spitalfields Market as part of the London Design Festival from 23rd - 29th September 2010.
"Billy Lloyd is a potter. He is in touch with the clay and produces simple, beautiful and functional pieces for the home. I hope to encourage him as a future "real" craft person. I asked him to choose other craft people, who he admires, to exhibit with him." - Priscilla Carluccio
I have been invited by Priscilla Carluccio to curate and take part in an exhibition in the new exhibition space at Few and Far. Billy Lloyd and Friends: Pottery, Tableware and Ceramics Made in England features hand-made ceramic, wooden and paper tableware from artists working in England and who all share in common a unique appreciation of form and function. Featuring alongside me in this selling exhibition will be Carina Ciscato, lkuko Iwamoto, Magie Hollingworth, Nicola Tassie, Nic Webb and Robin Wood. The exhibition also features on the London Design Festival's website.
